Shoup Bay State Marine Park is on the north side of Port Valdez, approximately 8.5 miles from Valdez. The historic World War II fortifications are open to explore, but please take a flashlight. It is one of several Forest Service cabins along the same trail, and overlooks scenic Juneau Lake. Enjoy a view of the sea with spacious . They are maintained by the Mountaineering Club of Alaska. Directions: The cabin is located three and one-half miles southwest of Juneau on Douglas Island. A splitting maul and saw are available. There is no source of fresh water near the cabin; guests must bring their own, or boil - or treat water taken from lakes or streams. Located 37 miles northwest of Juneau, the cabin is on shore of Berners Bay, 8 miles north from boat launch at Echo Cove at mile 40 Glacier Highway. Please leave it cleaner than you found it!
