As to the profiles themselves, the Krieg have lost any units that still do not have models produced by Forge World In addition to this, with the Death Korps now acting as a supplement to the core Astra Militarum book they simply use the base guardsman profiles for their troops this is a shame as they Krieg did have the advantage of slightly better WS, however I do think this is for the better in balance, as this means that then we get a new 9th Edition Astra Militarum book we will simply be able to port over the surviving Krieg units directly into that new army with minimal issues! The Lynx also gets a substantial simplification and a cost reduction, and probably ends up more practical out of it. Even Forge World armies such as the Death Korps of Krieg ended up in a weird limbo where they could use some units from the Astra Militarum book, but not all in exchange for getting access to a couple of unique units. 21.8M . The Stormblade andPraetor stand out a bit as both get a signifcant bump to their main guns, with the Stormblade going up a point of damage and the Praetor getting an extra D6 shots on the firetstorm mode. Then theres theGreater Brass Scorpion, which dropped 75 points while going up to 28 wounds It now also degrades in WS and BS, and so will always have 6 attacks to whiff with as it loses accuracy. This ability is included on most relic units dawning from the Horus Heresy era if a unit has this ability on its profile then the detachment it is taken in increases in cost by 1CP. After how nice and cheap and usable this was at the end of 8th, it still feels expensive as all hell. Each void shield is a 3 wound pool that has to be eaten through before the vehicle itself takes any damage, and that pool cant overflow so if a lascannon hits for 6 damage the void shield will absorb 3 damage, and the other 3 will just vanish. This website uses cookies so that we can provide you with the best user experience possible. We will be taking a look at some of these units in greater detail over the week once we have had a chance to crunch the numbers, but my initial reaction is positive here with some cool options for adding some fun units to bolster your Space Marine army. The big fliers all get slammed to BS4+ without much changes in their prices, and thats a pretty bad look for them. A lot of the profiles have been tidied a little and they benefit greatly from this, as degrading profiles on low wound models like this was often a problem in the previous edition. Titan Legions have had a massive boost in this book! This iteration of the rules really gets rid of that, and while there are still good or bad units theres a lot less room between them. Credit: That Gobbo. Instead, weve lasered in on our areas of expertise and pulled out what we think the winners, losers and other notable changes are for each faction, aiming to give you the lowdown on the things that matter most. The big thicc dreadnought is somewhat more svelte now its dropped from toughness 8 to toughness 7, and from WS/BS 2+ down to 3+ on both. There isnt any massive rules changes, but some minor adjustments and a few buffs/discounts scattered around (or in the case of Venatari, a minor change with a HUGE impact). At least they are 10 points cheaper now for every build except double claws (which stayed the same). For the Eldar, the Revenant Titan getting a 4+ Inv save regardless of how far they move. Credit: Jack Hunter. The Death Korps also get a Regimental Doctrine and datasheets for their unique Death Rider models. For the Space Marines we get a couple of new rules introduced the main one that is going to effect most peoples list building is the introduction of the Martial Legacy ability. He might be an Elite or an HQ (listed differently in the points values vs his datasheet), but either way hes clearly worth taking. #warhammercommunity #warhammer #warhammer40k #oldhammer #oldhammer40k #40k #2ndedition #2ndedition40k #tyranids #tyranid #nids #paintingwarhammer #painting #paintingminiatures #miniatures #miniaturespainting #hobby #wargames #wargaming #metal #alien #hivetyrant #warmongers, Awesome fun stream working on the 90s Hive Tyrant! Uraka, CorBax, and Mamon return, as well as some of the really big greater daemons. In contrast to the previous Imperial Armour Index volumes, this book is hardback too so will not only match the rest of your 9th Edition Codex collection, but also last a little longer in better condition! Other Cerastus-Knights are all only 12 movement at top bracket now, which isnt a huge thing, but it is still a nerf. Luckily the new Imperial Armour Compendium is here to solve both those problems, and GW have been kind enough to send us a copy. Not a huge change, but really impactful vs some targets. The second thing to note is that this section includes a single new Stratagem: The SmokescreenStratagem from Codex: Space Marines makes an appearance here, allowing units with the relevant keyword (mostly tanks) to pop smoke when shot at for 1 CP instead of having that ability for free in a more proactive use way. Trojans are the other huge loss. Relic Contemptor Dreadnought. We were very lucky to receive a copy of Imperial Armour Compendium a little early from Games Workshop to review and share the content with you all! This seems a way of restricting those rare units and make sure the battlefield isnt flooded by them dont forget that this will have an impact on your free detachment, as the warlord only refunds the initial CP cost of them! Likewise their Dreadnoughts also get the same damage reducing abilities to bring them inline! Both Hierodule builds getmassive discounts too (and sit in the Heavy Support slot), and the Scythed option ends up in a pretty similar spot to the Dimachaeron, though Id probably give that monstrosity the not because of its invuln and mobility tricks (though to be fair if you have a slot free to put Dermic Symbiosis on the Hierodule its probably better). That probably still isnt pushing them to the top tables. All of them got boosts and points drops. GW noticed that theGargantuan Squiggothhad no business being as cheap as it was, and have substantially hiked the price. This is a much better way of the unit working and makes my life as a Krieg commander much easier in terms of having to previously try and fence off the crew to stop them getting charged! At that point, given their defensive profile and the fact that they can just flatten stuff in melee, I think theres a plausible argument for trying three of these as a silly gimmick build. Most notably, the damage of both modes of the flamer has gone down to one, and the other gun has lost AP and the ability to deal MWs to vehicles, and theres really nothing else here thats going to make up for that. of Forge World units that, at the time of printing, are supported. Theres a clear set of principles running through all the changes in this book, which are generally very healthy for the game but might make owners of a few units a bit sad. Like the Rvarna, they do get a massive point cut, but here it comes with correspondingly massive decrease in capabilities. Meanwhile, the Tantalus gets ahuge price cut in exchange for trading out the weird warlord no one cared about and is also pretty strong as Covens. Cerastus Knight-Castigator. And now for the biggest gut punch: None of the Dreadnoughts listed here have the HELBRUTE keyword, meaning that until an FAQ corrects this, they dont get legion traits. Astral Claws Ultramarines with Rapid Assault and Hungry for Battle. People are sad about the leviathan, but before the compendium he was approaching a Knight in points, had terrible rules, was more expensive than the loyalist version and his guns were average. Next, what if you want an incredibly stupid super-sized Lord of War drop pod? The Gargantuan Squiggoth can also fall back and charge and even move over other units as it they were not there, something lacking in the current sheet making it easy to pin then down. Finally, theHades Breaching Drill looks kind of great now its been detached from the mandatory tag-along veterans, so you can take them as a separate squad as desired, and its melee attacks have been charged up, both getting d3+3 instead of d3 and being flat D3 against most targets and flat D6 against vehicles. If youre going Krieg, its because you love the models or want to declare cavalry charges! Such a fun and nostalgic time painting this up - used @redgrassgames wet palettes, @duncanjrhodes and @thearmypainter paints and can't wait to paint up some more! Thats especially true because. Custodes Telemon Dreadnought. Today we see the new Imperial Armour Compendium up for pre order from Forge World! Medusas of all flavours get a more functional boost some go up in cost slightly, but the damage on their big gun increases to d6, obviously very nice and much more scary to be up against when theyre well hidden. This mighty 224 page book collects together the rules for the majority of current Forge World kits that are available to buy over on the Forge World website (It doesnt include any discontinued models so keep that in mind if you have any older kits, these will receive separate Legends support over on Warhammer Community allowing you to use these in friendly games). Remoras are also easy winner, because they get two seeker missiles for free, more wounds, and are always in cover just huge boosts all round with no cost increase. Imperial Fists Astraeus Super-heavy Tank. Cerastus-Knight Lancer saw not only a 20 points drop, but also gained a souped up melee attack profile for when it charges. If youre a user of these its worth scanning through and checking for the addition of Blast on their guns Knights missed out on the first pass of FAQs due to not being in the main indexes. Remember that these Dreadnoughts dont currently get Legion Traits, since they arent INFANTRY, BIKERS, HELBRUTES, or CHARACTERS. None of these losers should be at all surprising to anyone keeping an eye on what was showing up in competitive lists. ability rather than regularWaaagh!, meaning that you need an alternative boss if you want to buff up infantry. The Gatling Cannon is unchanged, and the Cleavers Slash profile gets a helpful boost moving to 2 damage from D3. It also helps that the statline is still fine theyve gone to 9W rather than 12, but are at least non-degrading, and get the always-on ability to ignore AP-1, a nice extra upside. They killed my DKOK, thanks a lot after buying a Gorgon. The Adeptus Mechanicus get updated profiles for the Secutarii with rules keying off the new Titan Legion keyword that has been added for Titans. There are a couple of grumbles about missing units that are still available that do not have profiles, and sadly a few formatting errors here in there with incorrect battlefield roles and power values, which is a little bit of a disappointment in a 40 book. It does get cheaper, dropping to 1000pts, but the BATTLESUIT keyword is nowhere to be found on its datasheet, leaving without its primary means of defending itself. Leviathan Dreadnought.
